Christianity Never Existed

Gnostic Christianity exist today in a multitude of different names. A line of initiates unbroken from before Jesus lives among us but their secrets are even more hidden than ever before.

Christianity currently understood in America is a religion far removed from the name in which it renders.  “The Way” as it was known, or The Great Work, was the intention of the Master.  As man slumbered in the garden while the master agonized his divine appointment, so the church created dogma to better control others rather than know themselves.

Saint Valentinus nearly Bishop of Rome was ostracized by the work of Irenaeus who solidified those who carry the name of Christian as synonymous with Rome.  The Kingdom within was buried underground circulating the earth in secret until this day.

The Apostle Paul who understood the evil of the Pharisee; yet even he submitted to Jerusalem.  The control of humanity was in the hands of the elite, a black brotherhood of cross wearing magicians.  Just as Satan comes as an angel of light so does the ones who ask for both money and loyalty. Gnostic sects forced underground only reemerging as military monastic orders who were later burnt at the stake.

The “true cross” marched through the desert sands bringing destruction and misery in its wake just as the United States armed forces with words bring freedom, but in truth only death.  The gospel of the Master only lasted until his death; man, again tempted, destroyed any good the Master built; except for the few. Dare I say Magdalene and her son carried the message of the Master eventually reaching saint Valentinus who then gave up the treasures of the world to save his soul.

An Obscure Religion Based On Works

Today’s Christianity is an obscure religion based on works.  While this statement would be argued by many within the clergy, actions speak louder than words.  Truth is proven by the results of work.  The work of Christianity in its current form is one that only brings fear, and torment to those who hold its dogma as law.  Doctrines such as hell and eternal torment, the giving of tithes, the cults of personalities along with dozens of infractions all burdens around the neck.

Gnostic Christianity exist today in a multitude of different names.  A line of initiates unbroken from before Jesus lives among us but their secrets are even more hidden than ever before.  There is no technology of man that can initiate one into the mysteries.  The more humanity tries through science alone, the more tucked away truth becomes.  Truth cries out, but ears are deaf, and eyes are shut.  Humanity is continually concerned with the profane and mundane. It is rare for an individual to escape once indoctrinated by the smoke, lights, and mirrors of today’s society.

A Christianity That Never Existed

American Christianity is a Christianity that never existed.  Christianity as a religion of good news, freedom of Will and deliverance from the bondage of sin and death is not the Christianity in which you were raised. This is not the Christianity of America.  The Christianity of America condemns rather than forgives, spreads fear rather than loves and places burdens around the necks of it adherents.

You might ask the author; is there another way?  Can Christianity be saved?  Yes, but only in the line of Magdalene. This is difficult to find. However, if one searches, willing to sell everything for the pearl, open arms await.

New Thoughts on Free Will

Neuroscience would say that it is strictly biological. Instinct, something a large enough computer would be able to compute the actions of every individual past and future.

Philosophy has tangled with this subject for thousands of years neuroscience has recently entered the picture.  However I feel that neuroscience while having valid input into the subject neglects the spiritual.  Then, we run into the problem of measuring a spiritual phenomenon such as free will.  Neuroscience would say that it is strictly biological.  Instinct, something a large enough computer would be able to compute the actions of every individual past and future.  I see this as coming down to having a belief in a God or gods or a source which has consciousness that either created humanity through spiritual means or created humanity through breeding.  Neuroscience would be the avenue of approach if humanity was created through genetic breeding leaving the human without any objective spiritual lives other than imagined religious experiences.

I propose a thought experiment in which we are all living in a static world.  There is no past, there is no future; we are just here.  Present is you, the present is just a name we use for our living experience.  However, within the present is the infinite past and future.  Before the big bang and after the universe is wrapped up and fades away; you will be here.  How does this tie into free will?  Free will exists on the macro level or spiritual level but is limited in the micro level in our human experience.  Limited but not completely taken.  However, a large enough computer would be able to predict with great accuracy your future and tell you your past based on your present.

Imagine Infinite Source

Now imagine the infinite source.  This source set everything in motion and may or may not be interacting with humanity on a spiritual level.  I would suggest that this source does interact with us on a spiritual level through the subconscious.  This then limits free will even more than natural animal instinctual behavior as now the subconscious is being influenced by a creator source.  One may ask does the creator source have free will.  I think that we can ask the same of our spiritual selves as we are a part of the creator source.  All is one.  In conclusion free will and lack thereof are non-existent.  The question is moot as it is our human existence which asked the question in the first place.  The lower cannot know more than the higher.  If the creator source possesses free will than so do we.  If not we are ok as there is nothing we can do about it.

Moral of this little thought experiment is that you have nothing to worry about in life as all life is probably planned out for you in advance.

Just enjoy the ride!

The Happy Wanderer; No Money, No Worries

Balance may be the answer Jesus was trying to teach while emphasizing the destruction in which money causes.

For far too many of us our fears are centered around money.  We are manipulated to make money our youth.  Always being asked what we are going to be when we grow up; why?  I do not like it; it is not fun trying to gain enough money only to freak out when you do not have enough.  Sometimes it may be better to live as a happy wanderer; penniless, no job, no permanent shelter or car.  No bills, free food, no stress from work.  Wander around just, being.  If they only taught us this as children.

It is commonly known that Jesus talked more about money than he did heaven or hell.  It is no wonder why he did so.  Even Jesus was not immune from the damage money will bring upon the human psyche.  However, how shall we resolve this fucking lunacy in which we live when the Son of God could not even break free from it?  Maybe Jesus tried.  He was a happy wanderer.  Well happy most of the time.  Nonetheless he was a wanderer, couch hopper or as Metallica said, “My home is wherever I may roam.”

Maybe We Need To Accept

I am not one to undermine Jesus and think I know better than him.  Maybe, we need to accept.  I have always come back to a statement, “Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.”  Just accept and be, yet also be aware and fight for what is right.  He was never without what he needed.  Like the prophet Elijah, even when disgraced and ready to die the birds fed him.

Balance may be the answer Jesus was trying to teach while emphasizing the destruction in which money causes humanity.  Jesus knew he had to live with money but seemed happier without it.  Jesus did not seek out money; money was always there when he needed it.  Those who suffer from the anxiety in which money causes may be lacking in faith.  This is much easier said than done as I myself am a victim of money.  I want a lot of money, yet trying to get there is an unending mountain which becomes more treacherous every step.  I do not want to live that way anymore; do you?  I won’t throw myself down, but I will not stop moving forward.  Maybe it is time that we do not worry, becoming more like the lilies of the field or the birds of the air.  All is found under the umbrella of God in which we live.

The Greatest Commandments

Are most people sitting in the pews every Sunday giving away their cash and singing a few songs really Christians?

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:36-40 NIV

Christians and most Americans have these words seared into their conscious.  Generally one thinks of the corner stone of Christianity as Jesus, the cross and love.  Unfortunately in between Jesus and love comes dogma and doctrine.  Often social justice minded Christians are more concerned for the love of neighbor than “church” involvement.  These Christians are critiqued by “conservative” Christians who are involved with organized church, believing it is their outer expression of love of God.  Likewise these are critiqued by the social justice minded Christians for their lack of community involvement.  Why is there a split in the first place?  I am sure there are Christians who are knees deep in carrying out both parts of the greatest commandment.  Two questions I would like to propose.  Are these commands synonymous?  If they are synonymous, are those who are partial to social justice issues the only Christians?

How Do I Love God?

Let’s look at the text.  Jesus is famous for hyperbole and parables, it would not be against the norm for him to repeat the same command in different means.

How does one love God?  It seems we have created this idea that we must attend an organized church, read the bible and listen to Christian radio.  Maybe staying away from porn, beer and pot making sure to live up to the law and moral codes set in place by their denomination.  This sounds rather an odd way to love God.  Oh, I know, it is giving 10 percent of your money to the church.  Not really, the church, but a staff of paid members of the church.  The ones responsible for the building, teaching, reading, music and other production work.  I still do not understand how this is how one loves God.

Jesus says the same thing in order to make it much clearer to the reader.  “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Not an easy task for sure.  It is much easier to create dogma and doctrine in order to feel we have satisfied the requirements.  The majority feeling that the dogma and doctrine outweigh love of neighbor not realizing that is all Jesus meant.  All Jesus meant as the greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself.

How does that make sense?  Simple, you are god.  While not fully God, you are a piece of God. God would not be God without you.  You are god, humanity as a whole is God.  This is understood in many religions but generally rejected by the faith which worships the messenger.  It would stand to reason that the majority of professing Christians are not Christians at all.  They have created some strange doctrine and attached Jesus to the front cover.

Read the first four gospels.  Jesus is constantly preaching plainly or through parable, good works towards mankind.  Christians and non-Christians who take care of each other, fight for one another and give to one another.  Those people, these gods, who love themselves by loving others.  When others are themselves and themselves others, this knowledge is at the heart of the message of Jesus.   Jesus was radical in his approach speaking the truth leading to his death.  Are most people sitting in the pews every Sunday giving away their cash and singing a few songs really Christians?

‘By their fruit you will recognize them.”  Matthew 7:16 NIV

God Is Not The Cause of Suffering Pt. 2

In short, evil does not exist. It is our human condition to suffer which we perceive as evil.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

― Epicurus

I want to focus on this quote by Epicurus in part 2 of “God Is Not the Cause of Suffering.”

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?  Then he in not omnipotent.”

I think we can base most of this argument from the ancient book of Job.  We understand that only good things come from God however, God does allow evil to work in the world.  God then is still omnipotent just a participant by association in the evil as we perceive it.  I think it is important to remember God’s ways are not our way.

“Is he able but not willing? Then he is malevolent.”

Yes, from our perception he is malevolent.  There is no doubt about it. God is absolutely allowing evil in the world.  I would ask is evil necessary?  Or, does evil exist at all?  Do we just call what makes us suffer evil because we do not like it?

“Is he both able and willing?  Then whence cometh evil?”

In short, evil does not exist.  It is our human condition to suffer which we perceive as evil.

“Is he neither able nor willing?  Then why call him God?

That would be a personal choice.  Don’t call him God.  Call him what you want.  Why do I call him God?  I call him God because his ways our higher than mine.  “Reality” Is much more than I could ever understand.  I call him God because I do not believe in evil. I believe in suffering and suffering can bring about some of the best attributes in mankind.  This however is my personal choice. God then is not the cause of suffering; suffering is the cause of mankind. To suffer is to live.  Do what you will.

God Is Not the Cause of Suffering

Do you wonder why people leave God? We teach them he is this creator who brings vengeance upon his people and all suffering, illness and disasters are from his hand.

God is not the cause of suffering.  Many within the Evangelical church believe that pain and suffering are from God.  Some radicals feel that hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters are God’s vengeance.  These types seem to live in a real life Dungeons and Dragons game rather than being followers of Christ.  Imagination is a good, but we must not get carried away.  If you think God causes suffering he/she is not the God I serve.  Here is the deal humanity in itself is the cause of suffering.  We start suffering before birth and continue to suffer until our death.  Suffering is human nature.  It is not of God, it is of humanity.

Countless times I have talked with those who were once Christians or grew up in a Christian home who reject Christianity due to a misunderstanding of suffering.  Often Christians will quote Sodom and Gomorrah as an example without consulting Jesus and his interpretation.  Jesus was asked whose sin caused this man to suffer; his parents or his own?  Jesus said neither.  The suffering was for the glory of God.  Life is suffering, all suffering can bring us closer to God or drive us away. That is the human condition.

Do You Wonder Why People Leave God?

Imagine yourself flying from Hawaii to Los Angeles.  Throughout the flight you are looking down on the beautiful ocean. Then you start to see land and the smog below.  Humans are destructive.  We destroy as we self-destruct.  Like mold on a piece of white bread, the mold will spread and destroy the whole piece.  We need to be honest with ourselves.  Teaching our children or a new believers that God is behind our suffering is an imaginary way of trying to make peace with our condition.  We blame it on God and teach our children to blame it on God.  Do you wonder why people leave God?  We teach them he is this creator who brings vengeance, suffering, illness and disasters on humanity.

Let’s not forget we also teach our children and new believers that if we do not get it right we are thrown into a lake of fire.  This teaching must stop.  We must rid ourselves of what we have been taught and think rationally.  No good God is going to cause suffering.  No good God will banish people to eternal torment.  Finally we must ask ourselves why a good God would make humanity to be creatures of suffering.

Are We as Progressives Wrong?

You could argue progressives want to replace fundamentalist Christianity with progressive Christianity.

Are we as progressives wrong?  As progressives it is difficult to not interject our Christian worldview against the Christian worldview in the White House.  Jesus was a socialist, Jesus was a conservative, Jesus was this or that.  Jesus seemed to do his best to stay out of political life.  He could have been made king, led an invasion against Rome; even call down angels against those that sought to persecute him.  Jesus did none of those things.  Rather, Jesus taught his disciples to love God and neighbor.  This type of leadership transcends given authority by birth, force or election.  It is a leadership of example and choice.

Church and State

Progressives make valid points in which I agree.  We as a people should start treating people with dignity and respect.  We should care for the immigrant, feed the poor, provide affordable healthcare and do our best to give each person the right to execute their own free will.  A government free from as much corruption as possible and listens to the needs of all people.  A government that reasons together instead of fighting each other.  The founding fathers were not perfect, and I do not hold the constitution as written by God’s hand.  However, I do believe they were correct separating church and state.

Regardless if you are a religious person or not there are central moral doctrines most would agree.  Do not kill or steal; most laws draw from these internal doctrines written on our hearts. We are smart people and can handle it, although I do not think that we have been handling the separation of church and state very well.  Progressives are angry that fundamentalist are influencing the president and the Republican party. You could argue progressives want to replace fundamentalist Christianity with progressive Christianity.  Both are wrong.  We are wrong.  Religion, any religion has no place in United States government.

If we are Wrong, What Now?

So, what now?  Do we stop trying to correct the flaws of fundamentalism and the flagrant invasion of this form of Christianity in politics?  Or, do we do what Jesus did?  Jesus stayed out of the political scene.  The Apostles stayed out of the political scene.  When did things get bad for the people on earth regarding Christianity and government?  When Constantine took Christianity and made it one of the state religions giving political power to the church.  We all know how that worked out.  I encourage my fellow progressives to stop trying to use our faith to fight the politics of the current administration, rather use our progressive values to live out Christ.  Example is our power.  Our salvation does not come from government.  Our salvation comes from the Lord.
